Silicon Fiction

What is Flash Fiction?

Flash Fiction is essentially very short fiction. Usually less than 1,000 words, a Flash Fiction story can be read in just a couple of minutes, and the author’s challenge is to convey a particular mood or character effectively in a more compact and immediate way than they would for longer stories.

You can find the Wikipedia definition here.

Some of my Flash Fiction came from activities I did on a recent writing course. I like to think of this work as ideas for stories that could exist as Flash Fiction in their own right, or as starting points for developing a longer story, or even an idea for a novel.

I don’t like to think of them as short bits or writing that I can do easily without too much effort or commitment!
